These solid-looking flat pedals from Trek’s in-house component brand Bontrager tout an aluminium body, sealed cartridge bearings and a chromoly axle. They’ve got 10 pins per side, which can be adjusted in height by removing a washer placed underneath the Allen key head on the reverse side.

The Line Pros have a slightly concave shape, which helps to cup your feet and — in conjunction with the well-placed pins — means they’re not short of grip.

We opted to keep the maximum number of pins in the pedal and preferred the longer setting for extra traction. The platform was wide enough to easily accommodate our tester’s size nine feet, measuring 102mm by 99mm, and our pair weighed 421g.
Because the bearings are housed inside the pedal body (as opposed to sitting on the inside edge, next to the crank arm) the platform is quite deep (17mm). This meant that on more than one occasion we clouted the pedals into rocks or the ground. They came away unscathed and are still spinning smoothly though.
