CCC Sprandi Polkowice topped Team Sky in Thursday's second leg of racing at the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, a 13.3km team time trial in the town of Gatteo.
The Polish Pro Continental outfit won stage 1b with a time of 14:57, narrowly besting Sky with a two-second margin. Direct Energie finished third, 13 seconds down.
That was good enough to put stage 1a runner-up Lilian Calmejane into the overall race lead, with stage 1a winner Laurent Pichon (Fortuneo - Vital Concept) dropping to seventh on GC.
The race continues Friday with a 130km stage 2 from Riccione to Sogliano sul Rubicone.
