How to replace the gear cables on your road bike

Gear cables are a consumable part of the drivetrain of your road bike and in order to keep shifting as efficient as possible, they should be routinely replaced.

As dirt and grime finds its way into your cables, your shifting will become less responsive. It's easily fixed by replacing your cables and it's best to do this at the first sign of trouble as you may get away with just replacing your inner cables.
