GoPro Hero 5 features
For the Hero 5, GoPro has combined the best features of the Hero 4 Silver and Black, with the new camera featuring both a rear touchscreen and the ability to shoot 4k footage at 30fps. The Hero 5 can also shoot 12mp RAW or WDR (wide dynamic range) images, allowing for extra details to be captured in the highlights and shadows.
There’s also an updated stereo mic and advanced wind-noise reduction system. The camera gets three microphones and automatically picks which two to use based on the amount of wind and background noise.
The new camera also does away with the waterproof housing with built-in waterproofing down to 33ft / 10m. GoPro also says the new Hero 5 is compatible with all current mounts as well as the Karma Drone.
New for the Hero 5 is the voice control system, which allows the camera to be operated using catchphrases like “GoPro take a photo,” and “GoPro start video,” and at launch, the Hero 5 will recognize voice commands in seven languages (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese). They’ve also adopted the one button on/off and record system debuted on the Session cameras for the Hero 5.
