MRP’s new Wave ring is the brand's answer to the chain-retaining chainring. But unlike the narrow/wide herd, it uses a distinctive design to keep the chain on.
Rather than just using teeth of an interchanging shape and width, the Wave Ring also uses a unique pattern that offsets the teeth in a similarly alternating pattern. MRP claims that as it comes into contact with the chain, the design forces the links down against the ring, with each link receiving equal force but from opposing sides.

This process not only helps shed mud – because there’s additional space between each tooth – but also delivers one of the quietest chainrings we’ve so far tried.
Another significant advantage of this direct-mount chainring is its weight, or more accurately, the lack of it. Weighing 60g (32t tested), it represents a significant weight saving of 70g over a 32t SRAM X-Sync ring and spider that it replaced. Which can only be applauded.
