Katie Archibald (Great Britain) held off Kirtsen Wild (Netherlands) to take the UEC Track European Championships Omnium title Saturday in Berlin. Archibald took maximum points in the Tempo race and Elimination race and then minimised Wild's gains in the point race to beat her rival by seven points. Italy's Elisa Balsamo finished third, 25 points behind Archibald.

The gold medal is Archibald's second of the championships after she won the individual pursuit on Friday. The Scot also took silver with Great Britain in the team pursuit.

"I’m happy - it felt like a bit of a cheat last year," Archibald said of defending her 2016 title. "It was post-Olympic year the first time I won it and I thought ‘have I gotten away with it?’, so I’m happy to come back and defend."
