LottoNl-Jumbo scored the first win of 2016 thanks to one of its youngest riders, Dylan Groenewegen. The Dutchman powered to the line just ahead of Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis), with Katusha's Alexander Porsev taking third.

The sprint stage did not threaten the overall lead of Wout Poels (Sky), who leads Astana's Luis Leon Sanchez by 15 seconds, with teammate Diego Rosa just behind at 22 seconds.
