Edvald Boasson Hagen (Dimension Data) took a dominant victory in the time trial on stage 3 of the Tour of Qatar. He rode the 11-kilometre course in a time of 13:26.98, beating the long-standing time of Jos Van Emden(LottoNL-Jumbo) by 25 seconds. BMC’s Manuel Quinziato put in a strong performance to finish third at 29 seconds.
Boasson Hagen’s ride was strong enough to secure him the lead in the overall classification. He now sits 26 seconds ahead of his teammate Mark Cavendish, who was seventh on the stage at 44 seconds, with Quinziato moving up to third.
