Wout Van Aert (Crelan-Vastgoedservice) rode away on the final lap to win the DVV Trophy round in Loenhout. The world champion solidified his lead in the series with the victory over Tom Meeusen (Telenet Fidea) and Kevin Pauwels (Marlux-Napoleon Games).
Van Aert's rival Mathieu Van der Poel suffered a heavy fall on a slick descent on the penultimate lap and had to be carried from the course on a stretcher.
More to come.
