The January edition of Cycling Plus is out now!

Once again we find ourselves doing something that we’ve been doing increasingly over the past couple of years: pumping up the volume and heading off-road in a bike test featuring six wide-tyre all-rounders, which will broaden your riding horizons. Bikes from Kinesis, Shand, Mason, Spa Cycles, Genesis and Enigma duke it out for the coveted top spot.

The cheapest bike in the first bike test is two and a half grand, which would get you five of each of the two bikes in the second, as two seriously cheap bikes are pushed to their limits on the super tough The Struggle sportive.

Elsewhere we have first rides of the Cinelli Nemo Athena, J.Guillem Formentor, Specialized CruX Elite X1 (and Tarmac SL4 Elite) and BTwin Ultra 720 CF, and test a stack of new kit, including new wheels from DT Swiss and Lezyne’s Super Drive 1250 XXL light.

There’s also a guide to your next turbo trainer and a thorough test of the best budget shoes striding into the footwear market.

In features, we’ve a sneak-peak at the best new kit available to us in 2017, a myth-busting guide to nutrition beliefs and a trip Down Under to compete in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. The Australia theme continues in Big Ride as we head to Western Australia’s traffic-free but marsupial-heavy Rottnest Island.
