Fixed gear aficionados BCN Fixie Lab spent 24 hours riding fixed gear around the Catalan capital and lets us in on which eight spots you should visit if you have only one day to ride around this vibrant city, with its museums, markets and beaches.
1. Tibidabo for skyline views
Start from the Vallvidrera lookout. If you don’t fancy the climb, then go by public transport, taking the funicular to the top.
2. Ride down to the Gracia neighborhood
The easiest way is to follow Via Augusta. But we recommend Passeig de la Bonanova, before heading along Carrer de Muntaner and onto Ronda del General Mitre. You’ll arrive in Lesseps Square with the Gracia neighborhood on your right — perfect for brunch with pavement cafes.

3. Now time to burn some fat
Go to Passeig de Sant Joan for a scenic ride past the Arc de Triomf and a roll into Parc de la Ciutadella, stopping to catch your breath if you want. Leave the park via the Passeig de Picasso gate.
4. Time for lunch
Now you have two options. Hungry and into your history? Head to El Born. However, if you fancy paella and sunbathing, then head to W Hotel and take a ride along the promenade (Vila Olimpica).

- Not to miss: Dosnoventa, Satan Coffee, Skye Coffee.
- When to visit: Anytime other than high summer — the smog and tourists will make riding hard work.
- Be aware: Barcelona is a wonderful city but renowned for crime. Lock up your bike and, if possible, bring it inside at all times. It’s also one of Europe’s most expensive tourist hotspots. Yes, eating out is cheap but be prepared to stump up some cash for accommodation.
