Haute Route’s spectacular multi-stage cycling events are heading stateside in 2016 with a first preview running of the Mavic Haute Route Rockies.

At present, Haute Route events take place only in Europe, with weeklong adventures involving massive amounts of climbing in the Alps, Pyrenees and Dolomites. Thanks to a partnership with Mavic, the Haute Route Rockies marks the first time that Anglo-French organisers OC Sport will take the series across the Atlantic.

The Rockies-based event will have its first public outing in 2017, with Mavic offering technical and logistical support usually reserved for the pro peloton. Full course details will be announced in spring 2016, with entries – capped to 500 riders – opening at the same time.

Unlike its European counterpoints, the Mavic Haute Route Rockies will almost certainly tackle multiple stretches of dirt roads in addition to tarmac.
