Domenico Pozzovivo (Ag2r La Mondiale) lost over a minute to Richie Porte (Sky) in yesterday’s stage 2, essentially falling out of the GC conversation in the Giro del Trentino, but he found his climbing legs in stage 3. Near the end of the day’s 183.8 kilometers of racing from the town of Ala, the 32-year-old Italian launched an attack on the finishing climb to Fierozzo Val dei Mòcheni to win the stage. Giro del Trentino race leader Richie Porte crossed the line five seconds behind in a group of four that also included Mikel Landa (Astana), second on the general classification, and both maintained their GC positions.
The Giro del Trentino concludes with Friday’s stage 4, 161.5km from Malè to Cles.
