Ergon's BE1 is an enduro-focused pack that breaks from the harness trend in part developed by that master of detail, Fabien Barel. The fit of the BE1 is among the best we've tested thanks to its incredible adjustability, which includes a sliding back-length plate.
The boxy main pocket offers only one separated section so your phone, tools, tube and gels will have to fight it out for space a bit, but the clever stuff really happens in the lower pocket. The hinged 1.5L bladder folds in there snugly and it moves the majority of the weight to the small of your back. This pocket also includes a handy flip out netted pocket which is ideal for car keys.

When really pushing hard on technical trails the Ergon remains firmly anchored in place thanks to chunky waist straps. The main drawback is the lack of cargo space but if going fast between the tapes is your main goal, the BE1 has you covered. It's not just for the racers though – the Ergon also makes sense for trail riders seeking an uncomplicated, clutter-free pack for summer missions.
