America’s strongest contender for the yellow jersey will be riding this BMC with some special touches. – By Matt Phillips
A New Colour
BMC’s Tejay van Garderen is America’s best hope for a yellow jersey at the 2016 Tour de France. After dropping out in the later stages of the 2015 race due to illness, the 27-year-old likely has redemption on his mind. This is the bike he’ll be pursuing it on.
Van Garderen’s ride for 2016 is much like last year’s bike, but this year, the BMC team bikes are white rather than black. The Teammachine’s engineer was reportedly a bit perturbed to hear about the plans to paint the frame, which can add 100 grams or more. “Do you know how long and hard I had to work to take 100 grams out of that frame?” he allegedly said.
