Niewiadoma proves her place on Rabo Liv, aims for the top 3 at Giro Rosa
Rabo Liv’s Katarzyna Niewiadoma, 21, is one of the most promising riders in the women’s peloton. She is the current leader of the under-23 Women’s WorldTour, the under-23 European champion, was fifth at the Giro Rosa, and is a regular in the top 10 of world-class bike races. In a recent inCycle video, she spoke about how she became involved in the sport of cycling and her place on Rabo Liv.
“One day my dad said to me that there was a competition for fathers and daughters, so he took me there,” Niewiadoma said. "I didn’t want to go but he already gave me a bike and everything was prepared, so we went. I won that race. Over time I got more and more involved.
“At the beginning I made a lot of mistakes but I have improved a lot.
"I was top 5 at the Giro Rosa and for sure I want to be in the top 3."
Focused on her schooling, and enjoying spending time with her friends, Niewiadoma said she found occasional opportunities where she could do well in bike races and stay in the sport, and to see where the potential would lead in the future.
