Young Spanish rider Jaime Rosen (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) won the key mountain stage to Eimail at the Tour of Turkey, beating the far more experienced Przemyslaw Niemiec (Lampre-Merida) with a strong final kick to the line after the steep nine-kilometre climb to the finish.
Pello Bilbao lost three minutes and the race lead after being hit by illness overnight but his Caja Rural teammate José Gonçalves rode strongly to take the leader’s blue jersey and make it a great day for the Spanish Professional Continental team. Gonçalves now leads teammate Davide Arroyo by 18 seconds with just two stages left to race.
