American Allie Dragoo put in a perfectly timed effort to win stage 3 of the Energiewacht Tour, soloing away from the day's successful breakaway to take the win over Julie Leth (Hitec Products) and her own US national teammate Gretchen Stumhofer.

With the best placed rider in the move, RaboLiv's Moniek Tenniglo, down 4:34 on the general classification, the six leaders were given a long leash to go for the stage win.

Dragoo bided her time while Parkhotel's Vera Keodooder launched multiple attacks, only to be reeled back in by Tenniglo, Sara Penton (Lares-Waowdeals) and Leth.

"I attacked a few times and other people attacked, and I waited till about 2km when the lull happened I just took off and went, and got away there. It was a hard day," Dragoo said.

Amy Pieters (Liv Plantur) led the peloton home two minutes behind Dragoo, with Chantal Blaak (Boels Dolmans) keeping her six second lead over teammate Ellen van Dijk and 11 seconds on Lisa Brennauer, who suffered a crash during the stage.
