Junior World Champion Simon Andreassen (Specialized) attacked on lap one and opened a ten second lead on his rivals. He then added ten seconds on each of the next three laps as well before suffering a puncture that reduced his rear tire pressure to ten psi before sealing. Raphael Gagne (Cannondale 360Fly) took advantage of this mechanical to bridge up to Andreassen. But even on a partially flat tire, Andreassen was the better of the two and took the victory.
In the Pro Women's race, Eva Lechner (Luna Pro Team) was the early aggressor but she could not shake six other women. They all rolled through the start/finish together with one lap to go. In the end, Emily Batty (Trek Factory Racing) forced Lechner into a sprint finish but Lechner came out on top.
