The end of October is always special time of year for me, writes Rob Spedding, editor of BikeRadar's sister magazine Cycling Plus.
It's my birthday, I get to dress up and scare the local children and it's Halloween. This year it promises to be even more special as we're delighted to be bringing you the first ever Cycling Plus Circuit Sportive at Castle Combe motor racing circuit in Wiltshire.
And, of course, I'd love you to join me and the rest of the team. (You can bring me presents and cakes if you like – coffee and walnut is a favourite.)

We're running 50 and 100km routes that take in some of the beautiful Cotswold villages and quiet country lanes we regularly train and test on. The routes aren't overly tough, so they'll make a perfect end of season run out or, if you've started riding this summer, ideal first sportive.
Our sportive gives you the opportunity to meet the Cycling Plus team and compliment us on our stylish kit and athletic physiques. If you're the really competitive type then test yourself with a flying final lap of the traffic-free Castle Combe Circuit. There'll be prizes for the fastest riders – according to Strava my PR for the 1.8-miles is 5 minutes and 17 seconds. The current KOM is Procycling art editor Simon with a racy 3:31!
In addition we'll also have full mechanical support from Shimano in the event village and out on the road and a brilliant goody bag stuffed with, erm, stuff worth over £20! I can't wait to see you there!
