Giro Cipher full face helmet review

Giro’s replacement for the popular Remedy helmet is packed full of innovation, from the dedicated camera mount (with adapters for GoPro and Contour cameras included), to the ear-pad pockets that will take aftermarket speakers.

Whether or not these technical features are of interest, the Cipher retains Giro’s renowned fit and wide sizing range, while the mesh padding at the crown of the head promotes airflow and combats overheating.

The quality of the finish is high for a mid-range helmet, and a notable feature is the snap-fit for the interior pads, helping to keep them firmly in the right place, although it is easy to imagine small plastic fittings being damaged through incorrect use. The ‘high-tech’ cheek pads in the chin bar are just high-density foam, but they are a welcome nod towards safety innovation, and keep the front of the helmet a little more open and breathable.
