The CatEye Padrone is big on screen size but low on features, and setting it up is a bit frustrating too.
It doesn't have GPS functionality, but does have a large screen, with a massive speed digit and a subsidiary line that’s still bigger than most cycle computers' main displays.
The Jubilee clip style mount means it's easy to fit the Padrone onto frames, bars and stems, and you press the whole unit, not a single button, which all makes it very easy to see and use on the bike. There’s no backlight though and the seven features only deliver bare-minimum data.
Even though it doesn't have that many steps, the setup process is a patience-testing, back-button-push-and-hold rigmarole that kept chucking us out of the loop when we were part-way through. While the head unit clicks into the mount super-securely it’s incredibly hard to remove from the bike when it's new.
