Hope's new Tech 3 lever adds perfect tuning potential to its proven X2 calliper, and without the excess weight and bulk of the old Tech lever.
While the twin-pot X2 calliper remains unchanged, the Tech 3 lever body is a downsized evolution of the original Tech lever. Happily, the smaller profile syncs with other bar controls better, and it looks a lot neater. You still get the drilled lever details for all-weather grip, plus separate reach and bite-point adjusters that work far more simply and consistently than anything from other manufacturers.
These changes and the cheaper steel bolts add 63g per brake over the Race X2 though, and it's relatively heavy for what it is.
Still, the ability to get your lever positions and contact points exactly where you want is a massive help to comfort and control of an already well-modulated and powerful brake. Hope's changed its pad supplier for more consistent and quieter results too; the sintered compound lasts longer in typically wet and gritty UK conditions than the resin pads of other brands.
Reliability and factory-direct back up are legendarily good, and this £130 brake can be completed with a range of plain or fancy rotor and hose options.
