If you notice that BikeRadar seems particularly cheerful today (with the possible exception of 11spd, written by our resident Mr Grumpys), it's because we're delighted to announce we took home the coveted Website of the Year prize at the Cycling Media Awards, organised by BikeBiz.com.
The second annual Cycling Media Awards took place on Thursday 12 November in fashionable Islington, London. The cream of British cycling journalism came to mingle and drink… oh yes and to discover who'd won what prize. A whopping 16 categories included Website of the Year, Magazine of the Year, Specialist Writer and Cycling Advocate.
Presenting the awards were cycling presenter, author, journalist and women's cycling ambassador Rebecca Charlton, and cycling speaker and commentator Anthony McCrossan.
The winner in each category was selected from a list of finalists by a panel of 100 industry judges, with the exception of three categories. The Photographer of the Year and Writer of the Year categories were judged by an expert from outside the cycling world based on a submitted piece of work.
BikeRadar was up against some stiff competition in the Website of the Year category, with fellow finalists including Cycling News, Cycling Weekly, PinkBike, Road.cc, Singletrack World, Sportive.com and Total Women's Cycling.
