Nukeproof OKLO dropper seatpost

http://ift.tt/1zOZbrQ

Nukeproof has added this post to many of its more affordable trail bike builds, but it’s available aftermarket too, and will fit any 31.6mm seat-tubed frame.

  • Weight: 700g

  • Drop: 125mm

  • Diameter: 31.6mm

At under £200 it’s definitely one of the more affordable dropper post options, but given that it weighs 700g, it’s not the post for riders who worry about adding weight to their bike.

A lot of the post's weight comes from the use of coil-spring rather than air-spring internals, but at least that removes worries about leaks. The two-bolt seatclamp also has a small amount of rearward offset so you’ll be closer to a conventional post position than most droppers.

The screw-in seatpost head managed to work undone within an hour on its first ride, but we’ve had no repeat of the problem since we cranked the head up tight on the shaft again. Unlike some cheaper, thin stanchion designs there’s no obvious bounce or flex when pedalling.

There’s only an external routing option for the fancy Kevlar stranded cable. This attaches to the seat clamp at the top – rather than the shaft seal head – leaving a loop of moving cable to tame without putting paint at risk.

That does make the clamp easier to access for installation though and there’s a lockable cable adjuster on the remote lever to get the tightness right easily and then keep it there.
