This is a seriously expensive toolkit, but it finds Birzman blowing away most of the competition in terms of quality, range of tools and design.
With 37 pieces it has an advantage in scope. It includes multi-use tools such as cable cutters, link pliers, an adjustable spanner and a soft, dead-blow hammer – and the quality is very impressive.
There’s a host of specialist tools, including crank, brake, cassette, BB tools and even a file. Both Allen and Torx keys come in sets of nine (1.5-10mm, T10-T50), and the Allen keys are ball-ended. If their holders are tight and awkward, that’s about the only complaint we have. The screwdrivers (one cross, one flat) and tyre levers are high-quality items to start with.
The tough plastic case is as impressive as the contents, with a removable tray making access easy and its secure insets are clearly labelled.
The price is high, but it gets you quality versions of everything a keen home mechanic could seriously need or want, and it doesn’t take up much space. This neat briefcase could genuinely save you a bundle in the long run.
