Elia Viviani (Team Sky) outsprinted Marcel Kittel (Etixx-QuickStep) to win stage 2 of the Three Days of De Panne and claim his second victory of the season.
Kittel, who had the strongest lead-out train, looked to be in control of the sprint but the Italian stayed on his wheel and showed impressive speed to come round him in the final 25 metres.
Stage 1 winner Alexander Kristoff (Katusha) was also up there in the sprint but had to settle for third, though he did safely retain his white race leader’s jersey.
