Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), the organisers of the Tour de France announced on the weekend that there will be a women’s race taking place on the final day of the 2014 Tour de France.
The ‘La Course by the Tour de France’ will be a category 1.1 event on the 2014 Elite Women calendar, and is scheduled for 27th July 2014, the final day of the Tour de France and will take place on the finishing circuit of the men’s race a few hours before the Tour riders will be due along the iconic Champs Éysées in Paris.
According to the UCI, “this initiative is perfectly in line with the UCI’s strategy for the development of women’s cycling.”
