While perusing the halls of Core Bike 2018, this little retro treat caught our eye. Created to celebrate Lake's 35th anniversary — and joining the ranks with an increasing number of laced cycling shoes — is the throwback-styled MX1 and CX1.
Harking back to an original design launched at the beginning of the company, these shoes have been updated with modern materials and technology.
Despite the throwback looks, we can't help but think they look a little like bowling shoes.
Both shoes feature PU coated and perforated Action Leather uppers, with the road models designed around a tighter last than the equivalent off-road oriented versions.
The lace closure should let you tailor the fit nicely, though we find it does limit 'on-the-go' adjustability. A carbon soled version is available too.
