Anna van der Breggen (Boels-Dolemans) made history and completed a dominant week in the Ardennes by winning the first ever edition of the women’s Liege-Bastogne-Liege after also winning the Amstel Gold Race and Fleche-Wallonne.
The European national champion and Olympic gold medallist attacked alone in the final kilometres of the hilly 135km race, holding off the chasers from the key five-rider attack and the reduced peloton.
Lizzie Deignan again made it a great day for Boels-Dolemans by taking the sprint for second from Kasia Niewiadoma (Wm3 Energie).
