Ruth Winder made it two from two at the Joe Martin Stage Race with the UHC rider proving too fast and powerful on stage 2. Winder was two seconds faster than Sara Bergen (Rally Cycling) to extend her overall lead with two stages to come.
"It was a really good day of team work. The girls took great care of me. Hagens Berman threw down a few great attacks but the team pulled back each one well," said Winder. "Coming into the finish line there were a few teams with lead out trains, but we held patient and stayed in good position before the last corner when Katie Hall hit it. I put my head down and held it to the line."
With the team aiming for the stage win and opportunity to extend its overall lead, it was mission accomplished for UHC and sports director Rachel Heal.
It's the first big US race for us with a relatively new team, and it's great to see the team work so clearly in effect already. The times are still very close in GC so we're looking forward to another two great days of racing," Heal said.
