SixSixOne Evo AM helmet – first look

http://ift.tt/1gv4XKl

The new Evo AM helmet from SixSixOne is designed to be light and well-fitting. It offers increased coverage at the rear of the helmet, but SixSixOne hasn’t skimped on vents – the areas between the vents have been kept wide to maximise strength and comfort.

The helmet is also made from Contigo foam, which has greater shock-absorbing properties than the EPS foam used by most helmet manufacturers.

Two models of the Evo AM will be available – a standard version, and one that’s equipped with MIPS, a system designed to help reduce the chance of rotational injury in certain types of impact, reducing the strain on the skull by up to 30 percent.

This works in combination with the Boa retention system, which cradles the head. Unlike other helmets, it doesn’t just pinch tight from the rear, it has a full head hold, which means it feels both more secure and more comfortable, as your head isn’t pushed to the front of the helmet when it’s tightened.

The peak shape is a little odd, but is designed to channel as much air in to the vents as possible and can be fixed in two positions. Completing this feature packed helmet is the Fidlock magnetic buckle.
