Gusset Oxide XL pedals review

http://ifttt.com/images/no_image_card.png

If you've got big feet, it can be hard to find mountain bike pedals that are large enough to give your flippers the support they need. Helpfully Gusset make an XL version of their popular Oxide pedal.

The Oxide XL is 10mm wider than the standard Oxide, at 105mm, and while it's not the thinnest, at 20mm it's still decent, and does allow proper bearings to be used.

The slight platform concave offers good feel, and the 10 flanged pins per side can be removed to tune the grip. They're quite burly and will last longer than standard grub pins when subjected to the battering the flat pedals tend to get.

Supporting the pedal body is a chromoly axle with incredibly smooth bearings - one cartridge and one set of needle bearings per pedal. Overall build is very good and so far they've held up well - we've no reason to doubt they'll cope well with winter grime too.
