The low-profile Boomslangs aren’t cheap. But the design and grip on offer more than make up for the dent in your wallet.
At just shy of 100mm wide, the platform offers a decent sized surface to sit your foot on, though the bearing housing that sits close to the crank arm means they’re not as roomy as the likes of DMR’s Vaults. They’re a touch heavier too, at 437g for the pair.
The concave platform (the outside edge is 13mm deep and the inside 10mm) and 11 viciously grippy pins per side produce staggering amounts of grip, even with soles caked in mud. In fact, these are some of the grippiest pedals we’ve tried.

What else does your money get you? Well, after a good few months of abuse Specialized's bearing/needle bearing combo is still spinning smoothly with zero play in either pedal, and there are four spare pins stowed neatly in each pedal platform should you manage to rip any off.
We like the way the pins screw in from the reverse side of the platform, protecting the bolt heads. Pedal washers must be used with certain cranks to ensure the Boomslangs get the clearance needed to spin freely.
