Endura’s long since nailed the details of all-season trail kit, and the Xtract is the latest long-sleeve jersey to benefit from its wealth of knowledge. The pedigree is evident from the first time you pull it on; there’s a tangible purpose and quality.
For fit, the Xtract is more akin to a road or cross-country jersey, and is snugger around the body than some. The arms are perfect for length, and although some taller testers would’ve preferred an extra inch in length from our size Medium, the whole thing fits well. It leaves room for a baselayer, but the cut is close enough to alleviate any unwanted billowing.
The Airtex construction means it wicks sweat well, and it’s comfortable against the skin as a first layer. The trio of rear pockets is extremely handy, and a good size to cargo just about anything you need, while the detailing is subtle with reflective print on the sleeves and rear.
We also found the Xtract combines with Endura’s own (superb) lightweight MTR shell to great effect.
Once you start pedalling, the Xtract works brilliantly. The fit keeps everything where it should be and the ergonomics are good – the pockets are easy to access and the half-zip is smooth and easy to use on the bike.
The Xtract’s biggest attribute is its ability to double as a mid-layer for cold spells and a standalone jersey in summer.
