Trek today announced the addition of disc brakes to its Domane line of endurance road bikes. Notably, the Domane Disc 4.0 and Domane Disc 6.9 will have thru-axles and the ability to use wheels with traditional quick releases, too.

Trek's 'Closed Convert' dropouts are 12mm at the rear (with 142mm spacing) and 15mm at the fork. The bike comes with new Bontrager Affinity Elite Disc wheels.

Trek's standard Domane with caliper brakes will continue in all its various iterations. With the calipers removed, the disc Domanes have more clearance for tires and fenders.

The Domane 4.0 Disc and 6.9 Disc are available now at Trek retailers. (Domane bikes come in 2, 4, 5, 6 and Classics models.)

The top end 6.9 version features a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 9070 transmission with R785 hydraulic levers and brake calipers.

BikeRadar recently received a Domane 6.9 Disc and will be posting a review shortly. We weighed a 52cm sample Domane 6.9 Disc without pedals at 7.52kg/16.58lb.

The domane was released in 2012. now for the rest of 2014 it is also available with discs:
