Stephens wins stage 1 of Redlands Classic

Lauren Stephens won stage 1 of the Redlands Bicycle Classic Wednesday in Highland, California. Stephens (Tibco-To The Top) took victory in the women’s Highland Circuit Race to kick off the five-day National Racing Calendar opener.

Karol-Ann Canuel (Specialized-lululemon) finished second and Leah Kirchmann (Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies) was third.

The men’s stage takes place later Wednesday.

The 30th Redlands Classic continues Thursday with the 7.8-mile stage 2 time trial in Big Bear.
