Belated April (Cycling) Fools! Last week, in answering a reader’s email question, Jim Langley wrote something in a way that I read as him saying that he had – somehow – crashed once on a trainer. I was joking with him about it, how that would make for a great story. Well, turns out he did not crash on a trainer. He did, however, relate to me the tale of an epic crash while riding rollers! For some reason, my mind immediately turned to one of my own most embarrassing moments on a bike. Realizing that April Fool’s Day was coming up – voila! – I hit upon a way to tie the two together. So today I give you the various cycling pratfalls of the RBR Crew, in the form of our most embarrassing riding (or falling, or crashing) moments. Question: I've heard that you should cover your legs when the temperature is below 65F (18C). It reached 67 under sunny skies last weekend, and even though the roads were snow-lined, the pavement was dry. So I peeled off my leg warmers -- and now I have sore knees. What happened? -- Barry M. Thanks for sharing! As I wrote last time, seemingly everyone who tries them (me, too), says that tubeless road tires offer a significantly superior ride since you can run them at lower pressure for more comfort, better handling and -- many feel -- less rolling resistance for better performance, too. Plus, because there’s no tube, one of the most common punctures, the pinch flat, is completely prevented.
