Giorgia Bronzini (Wiggle-High5) claimed a small bunch sprint victory on stage 1 of the Giro Rosa, beating US national champion Megan Guarnier (Boels Dolmans) and Rasa Leleivyte to the line.

Guarnier moved into the race lead after making the front split, taking the maglia rosa from prologue winner Leah Kirchmann.
