LONDON (AFP) — Bradley Wiggins broke the hour record on Sunday at the Olympic Velodrome in London on Sunday.
Wiggins’s distance of 54.526km eclipsed the mark of 52.937km set last month by Alex Dowsett in Manchester.
Going in, Wiggins had spoken of breaking 55km, a mark he felt could stand for years to come.
“Whatever I do, I’d like it to create a buzz. Records get broken eventually, but 55 kilometers, I’m not sure. People will start failing. But I do hope they attempt it.”
