MADRID (AFP) — Gianni Meersman claimed the Trofeo Muro-Port d’Alcúdia on the final day of the Mallorca Challenge on Wednesday.
The Omega Pharma-Quick Step rider pipped Jose Francisco Ventoso (Movistar) and Ben Swift (Sky) in a sprint to the line to win the 162-kilometer contest from Muro to Alcudia to close the four-day race on the Spanish island.
It was a second consecutive day that the Belgian team came out on top after Michal Kwiatowski won the Serra de Tramuntana Trophy on Tuesday.
Sacha Modolo claimed victory for Lampre-Merida on the opening two days of the four-day event which consisted of four separate races without a general classification.
